Ian, who currently lives in NYC, has previously worked with companies like Random House, Titmouse, Blue Sky Studios, Kill Screen, Time Out and millions are greeted everyday by his drawings when opening the Vimeo homepage. A group of scientists from the University of Illinois at Chicago have shown that moderate consumption of Alcohol may boost creativity. Within their study they compared the performance of sober and drunk volunteers (0.075 blood alcohol level) with tests known as remote associate tests that people often solve with a moment of insight. The results showed that the tipsy volunteers not only solved substantially more (30%) of the tests they also solved them quicker...

Finally the perspiration and debris of so many that are clogging social networks with superfluous messages to the world like “I'm cooking xxx...” or “I have to go to the bathroom...” have found an adequate destination – printed onto a toilet paper roll.
A group that calls itself "shitter" has started a service that takes one or more feeds from your Twitter account and prints it out onto four rolls of toilet paper. The price is a bit steep ($35) but as a one-off if you for example know those who are spamming your account so eloquently, it will make the perfect gift to give back to them what they have so generously provided to you with their tweets in the past.
Now we would like to see a real-time version of that – a printer integrated into a toilet roll dispenser – as shown "a few weeks" ago there are plenty more applications for a device like that.

Kara as the robot / android and the short film is called certainly gives us an idea what soon will become possible - how subtle emotions and moves of game actors can be tuned.
"Listen to David Cage", co-founder of Quantic Dream and director on his intentions, what they wanted to demonstrate with this short film and how they arrived there with their experiences from Heavy Rain.

Today seems to become a more productive day for this planet - Facebook is / was down in large parts of Europe and parts of Asia, Middle East and Africa.
Reduced procrastination, less bandwidth clogging with nonsense message and no more constant distraction for millions of people.
Today's blackout comes after Denmark had end of last week "by mistake" blocked/censored access to more than 8000 web sites including Google and Facebook. If this continues people might actually do something productive and the GDP will go up. With the Internet DNS system continuing to be in such a fragile state such events could soon become a frequent feature...

We finally found some time to watch Niall Ferguson's Ted Talks presentation with the "killer applications" he also describes in his latest book "Civilization The West and the Rest"
Niall Ferguson starts his presentation outlining his playing field, pointing us to the facts that more than 106 billion people have walked this planet and 94% of those are already dead. Out of those 106 billion 60% were or are Asian and most of them were or are very poor (shortening their life span / economic output). He then bridges over to explain the concept of the "Great Divergence", that the majority of today's wealth (US$195 Trillion) was made after 1800 by so-called Westerners and till today 66% of the world's wealth is owned by these Europeans, North-Americans and Austral-Asians that only make up 19% of the world's population...
