Mobile Phones: Putting the numbers to scale
Tom Libretto, vice president of Forum Nokia, provided some insides at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, California this Monday. Comparing the volume of Apple’s iPhone shipped to Nokia’s shipments of phones he said:
“…Since the launch of iPhone in June, Apple has shipped 5 million to 6 million of the devices, paling in comparison to Nokia’s device shipments…We’ve done that [volume] since we’ve had dinner on Friday…”

MS Multi-Touch Surface coming to an AT&T shop near you
Telecom giant AT&T is the first company worldwide that will use Microsoft Surface™ touch and device recognition technology in retail shops.

Environment: Greenpeace guide to greener electronics
Environment campaigning organization Greenpeace has yesterday published the 7th issue of its “Guide to greener electronics” that ranks the top 18 manufactures of personal computers, mobile phones, TVs and game consoles based on their policies how to handle toxic chemicals and recycling of their goods.

Web 2.0: Microsoft buys stake in Facebook

Those who thought that the times of the “tulip trades” in the IT / Web industries are over could today learn an even new record in company valuation.
Microsoft bought a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook for USD240 million. This would value the three-year-old company at about USD 15 billion. While Facebook is expecting annual revenues of about $150 million this year, most likely the very high price is also related to a competition between rivals Google and Microsoft to buy a stake in the company
