Data Visualization: Doctors of the World
The image below was created as a poster for Dutch doctors to hangs on the wall of their waiting rooms. With 170 inhabitants per doctor Cuba is still the world leader on that chart. Not unsurprising other (former) communist countries follow on the next positions (in some of those countries the numbers have already started to deteriorate).

Advertising: The WWF Billboards
With its billboard design for a Global Warming awareness campaign the “WWF” has demonstrated that clever advertising and eco-friendliness is a good match.
The WWF billboard for this campaign uses a specially shaped awning that casts a shadow onto the poster. Throughout the day that shadow rises and illustrates graphically the raising ocean levels on the billboard…

Advertising: Short stories wanted
An excellent campaign for last year’s short story competition of a Bavarian book publisher. The text on the ads reads: “The smoker at the petrol station” “The woman, the bathtub and the hair dryer” “Without money at the whorehouse”…

Advertising: The Mill Breakdown of the Ford F450
While we don’t endorse the use of huge pertrol guzzling vehicles for personal transport this advertising is just so greatly done that you should have seen it. “…Suspended in mid-air the car’s components are seen floating throughout the commercial, and are slowly drawn together as if magnetized, to eventually form the new Ford Super Duty F450 truck…” The commercial by the Mill 3D and 2D teams was created by combining different techniques and software. A team of operators prepared…

Advertising: IT sponsored theater plays
Two great and fresh advertising ideas for theater plays. These ads for the ‘Virtual Theater Festival For High Schools’ are on the winners list of the 8th Adprint festival and are a excellent demonstration for the creative ink between a computer maker (HP) and the poetry or theater (performance art)…

AIDS: Costly Red Campaign (2)
Find below a link to the CNN video report on the issues with the so called RED campaign “reported yesterday” by the leading advertising industry magazine “Advertising Age”. We are looking forward and expecting that soon someone will also shed light on what actually happens with the USD 18 Mln. that made it to the “Global Fund” - expect some hot stories here. To get a first glimpse on that read a report at the “Boston Globe” (there are a few others there one also pointing to the fraud investigations within that organization). This nevertheless is just the tip of the iceberg as we hear from insiders…

AIDS: Costly Red Campaign Reaps Meager $18 Million
There is an interesting article in “Advertising Age” - one of the leading publications of the industry - about the RED campaign by Bono and a group of companies. We suggest to also read the comments on the article. There are a few interesting ones beside the normal “wood” and “heroic praises”. “…The disproportionate ratio between the marketing outlay and the money raised is drawing concern among nonprofit watchdogs, cause-marketing experts and even executives in the ad business. It threatens to spur a backlash, not just against the Red campaign — which ambitiously set out to change the cause-marketing model by allowing partners to profit from charity — but also for the brands involved…”

Advertising: Pirelli Mission Zero
One of the best advertising short-films we have seen for a (very) long time. After their great success last year with the short film “The Call” starring John Malkovich and Naomi Campbell, PirelliFilm has now created a new high budget film called “Mission Zero”. It is featuring Uma Thurman, Kathryn Bigelow, the Lamborghini Gallardo and of course Pirelli’s new PZero tires. If you enjoyed Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies you must watch this one…
