Advertising: SUVasaurus commercial

Great advertising but we would be more impressed if this would be a marketing campaign for a Hybrid or Plug-in version of that car. Maybe next year.

    There is an interesting article in “Advertising Age” – one of the leading publications of the industry – about the RED campaign by Bono and a group of companies. We suggest to also read the comments on the article. There are a few interesting ones beside the normal “wood” and “heroic praises”. “…The disproportionate ratio between the marketing outlay and the money raised is drawing concern among nonprofit watchdogs, cause-marketing experts and even executives in the ad business. It threatens to spur a backlash, not just against the Red campaign — which ambitiously set out to change the cause-marketing model by allowing partners to profit from charity — but also for the brands involved…”

    A series of strange ads have been popping up in Toronto, Canada during the last days advertising for a product called “Obey” and linked to a group calling itself “WhyBecauseISaidSo

    The punch line on one of the ads reads as following:
    My son had ideas of his own.
    Obay put a stop to that.

    The idea behind it – while this is definitely a teaser campaign – is thrilling and scary at the same time. How many people are actually already using drugs to sedate their children and to make them more compliant? And this at times when governments in western countries are passing laws to create a new form of political correctness or citizenship…
