Advertising: Ikea furnishes Kobe trains

To communicate the opening of their new shop on Port Island, Chuo-ku, Kobe the Swedish furniture shop IKEA has converted the Kobe Portliner Monorail into a moving showroom.

The new shop will open today on April 14 but the redecorated train, which features a colorful exterior, bright upholstery and fancy curtains, will continue to carry passengers in style until May 6.

Environment: Twenty-First Century Waterfall

This computer animation by Doug James from Cornell was made to raise awareness about poor recycling rates of water bottles in the US.

From the estimated 30 billion plastic water bottles purchased in 2005, only about 12% got recycled. The remaining 25 billion bottles were either landfilled or littered.
