Another great Geek & Poke cartoon this one is about outsourcing based on an article from Forbes magazine last week that predicts an end to India’s cost advantage by 2015.
Example from the Forbes article (The coming death of Indian Outsourcing) :
“…There’s a tiny Silicon Valley start-up called InsideView. It helps customers to generate sales leads, qualify those leads and use technology tools to help find big sales opportunities for customers.
In November 2007, InsideView acquired a company called TrueAdvantage, which did the exact same thing manually with a team of 150 people in India. After the acquisition, InsideView moved all 2,500 of TrueAdvantage’s customers over to its SaaS solution. All 150 TruAdvantage employees in India were laid off…”

We believe there is a bit more to say about that topic particularly with that great example used by Forbes Magazine. One could also see a next “era” of computing arriving that uses Information Systems in different ways to create value for organizations. Different kinds of values for different kinds of organizations. And organizations remaining in the transactional / sequential world will be the big losers. But that is a topic for another post…
