Today its exactly 80 years ago that A. A. Milne’s book on the fictional bear Winnie-the-Pooh was first published with illustrations by E. H. Shepard.
“Winnie-the-Pooh” was published by Methuen on October 14th, 1926, followed by “The House at Pooh Corner” (1928), and the poetry books “When We Were Very Young” and “Now We Are Six”. All four books were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.
The Pooh-books are favourites with old and young alike since then and have been translated into almost every known language.
